Fleeting, on purpose
A niche perfume that knows when to leave.
Most perfume is built to shout across a room for twelve hours. Ours isn't. Fugace is Italian for fleeting, and we took the hint: four unisex scents that sit close, change on your skin, and leave around the time you'd want them to. We make them by hand in Porto, 300 bottles at a time, and when a batch is gone, it's gone.

Four unisex scents
01 / 04
Figsap
Green fig, a torn leaf, the milky bit where the stem snaps.
Top
fig leaf, bergamot
Heart
milky sap, green fig
Base
cedar, a little musk
Wears about 4 to 5 hours. Smells like stealing figs over a wall. Allegedly.
02 / 04
Brine
Sea salt, wet slate, the wind off the mouth of the Douro.
Top
sea salt, grapefruit peel
Heart
wet stone, kelp
Base
driftwood, ambrette (a soft, musky seed)
Wears about 3 hours. The shortest of the four. Like the beach in April.
03 / 04
Ember
Last night's fire, smoked tea, a thread of birch tar.
Top
black pepper, smoked tea
Heart
birch tar, cade (juniper smoke)
Base
vetiver, labdanum
Wears about 6 to 7 hours. The one that stays for dessert.
04 / 04
Chalk
Orris, rice powder, a blackboard someone just wiped clean.
Top
aldehydes (that clean, fizzy lift), pear skin
Heart
orris butter (powdery iris root)
Base
rice powder, white musk
Wears about 5 hours. Quiet. Clever. Doesn't explain itself.

Wear time
How long does each scent last?
Between about 3 and 7 hours on skin. Brine is the shortest at around 3 hours, Figsap lasts 4 to 5, Chalk about 5, and Ember hangs on for 6 or 7. They're made to sit close and fade, so nobody across the room has to wear your perfume too.
Approximate wear time on skin: Figsap 4 to 5 hours, Brine 3 hours, Ember 6 to 7 hours, Chalk 5 hours.

01
Weigh
Every batch is mixed by weight on one bench in Porto, not by the litre in a tank somewhere. Small batches mean we can taste-test (well, smell-test) each one before it goes anywhere.

Rest
Then it sits in amber glass for six weeks. The notes settle and stop arguing. We've tried skipping this. Don't.

Fill by hand
We filter it cold, fill each bottle by hand and number the base: batch, then bottle, out of 300. When the 300th goes out, we start the next batch.

Questions, answered plainly
How long does Fugace perfume last on skin?
Between about 3 and 7 hours, depending on the scent. Brine is the shortest at around 3 hours, Figsap lasts 4 to 5, Chalk about 5 and Ember 6 to 7. That's on purpose: they're made to sit close to you and fade, not to fill a room all day. Skin type and weather change it a little either way.
How do I make perfume last longer?
Put it on skin that's just been moisturised, on warm spots like the inside of the wrists, the neck and behind the knees, and don't rub your wrists together (it just warms the top notes away faster). A spray on your clothes or scarf lasts longer than on skin. Or carry the sample vial and top up. We won't judge.
Are Fugace perfumes unisex?
Yes. All four are unisex fragrances. We don't make a men's line and a women's line; we make four smells and you pick the one you like. Ember and Brine get called masculine and Chalk gets called feminine, usually by people who haven't tried them.
What does a fig perfume smell like?
A good fig perfume smells green and a little milky rather than sweet: crushed leaf, the white sap from the stem, some unripe fruit, over soft wood. Figsap leans hard on the leaf and the sap, so it's fresher and greener than the jammy fig scents you might know.
Is there a perfume sample set?
Yes. The sample set has all four scents in 2 ml vials, enough for about a week of each. It's the easiest way to choose a full 50 ml bottle without guessing from a description. Price: [placeholder].
Where do you ship from?
Everything ships from our workshop in Porto, Portugal. Shipping costs and delivery times: [placeholder, the owner sets these].
Why only 300 bottles a batch?
Because that's what one bench, one person and six weeks of resting time can do properly. It also means every bottle has a number, and when a batch sells out you wait for the next one. Fleeting, as advertised.
